No question def penalty or I should rephrase that def penalty if you play for the privileged few. Stinks to high heaven just makes you hate the elite mob even more. Wish they had just let all that mob fuck off to their super league and take the bent English refs and VAR with them.

It was a nailed on penalty — you've only got to look at McNeil's reaction
I also knew instinctively that we wouldn't get a penalty. We're just not a serious enough issue for officials to bother about getting it wrong.

Is it a coincidence that the "big" teams all got late pens to ensure they won & we were denied a penalty for a foul in the area? I wonder if any of the "big"clubs would have got a penalty if Dawson played for them...

Away from home we’ve struggled to break down Southampton, wolves and Burnley.
At home we’ve scored in every game, including Chelsea & Liverpool.
So yes we do struggle to break teams down away from home.

Dawson was clearly fouled,he didn’t make a meal of it.The incident occurred in the penalty area therefore a penalty should have been awarded. It’s that simple. The fact that VAR saw it differently confirms its bent. The way I see it is West Ham are not considered worthy by the powers that be to finish in the top four and quite frankly it makes my blood fucking boil.

The 'never looked like getting the ball' thing is the biggest load of trollope, how about if a corner is slung in and someone is thrown to the ground? It should be a pen, even if the ball wasn't going near them. Dawson was cleaned out, and it was as stonewall a pen as you'll ever get, and it's a mockery considering some of the pens given now with VAR.
As for the game, we huffed & puffed, but as said below, when teams defend like that it's so hard to score, and you're relying on a bit of luck for the ball to fall your way in the area, or a stonewall penalty decision to be given, but it wasn't to be.
We're a good team, but not quite good enough to finish in the top 4. But that's ok, we'll finish top 6 again and we are serious contenders to win a cup, which is incredible given we were relegation candidates 2 years ago.

Decisions are certainly not applied consistently. If the referee’s judgement as to whether a player will get the ball is part of the decision, then it makes it all the more subjective and open to abuse.
I would guess a large proportion of fouls occur where one player has put his body between ball and opponent. It’s not as if Dawson then intentionally initiated contact as you see other players doing. Agreed the defender was clumsy rather than malicious but that shouldn’t really be relevant.

The 'never looked like getting the ball' theory, seems to be a bit of a grey area when it comes to awarding pens or not, does that come into the decision making, I assume it does? That aside, as said below, it was probably more a case of Dawson stepping in front of the defender than anything else, but at the same time it was a bit clumsy from the defender.

Interpretation of rules are always changing but does it make any difference to the decision what Dawson was or wasn’t doing? Isn’t the test whether McNeil was careless or reckless in his action which led to Dawson being kicked? It would have been given outside the box.

I wasn't convinced by Dawson's penalty call, he never looked like getting the ball, certainly wasn't controlling the ball. He kind of jumped in front of McNeil and got a kicked for his trouble. Wasn't a particularly bad decision.

Yep, would concure. Sometimes scoring a goal looks the hardest thing to do in the world. I was getting wound up at the missed opportunities, then realised on 70 mins that we weren't going to score if we were out there all night, so relaxed and was then thinking a point is alright up there.

Backing Haller (again) and digging out Antonio (again) You really do seem incapable of moving on from something once that something is in your head. Weird. Or to put it another way, you're like a fucking parrot :-)

Dawson was fouled in the box absolutely no doubt it should have been a penalty, just watched motd and all their pundits said the same. It’s now blatantly obvious theres a biased towards favourites we’re never be one of them it’s a case of “just accept it” its fucking ridiculous.

Didn’t see the game but I guess it’s just the same old story. Any PL team that sits back is good enough to deny a win from pretty much any team in the league.
Why should that be any different for us?
We win games generally because the other team commit bodies and leave space that we can play through. Or we get a set piece.
Even teams with infinite funds find it difficult to get results in this league if a team just wants to Sit back.
Luckily , you can’t guarantee safety or win anything by sitting back all the time so Most teams don’t do it too much. So We will get our points eventually. All that matters is we don’t lose, especially away games.
It’s not that bad really is it? Still 4th. Arsenal is Where we will find that space to attack.

I don’t think they’re in the pocket. But I just think they favour them. They want to help them and be the big teams buddy.
